“Simply wasn’t good enough”, our principal psychologist Mary Magalotti told The Age. Mary Magalotti highlighted that the Australian Government being were disrespectful towards those in the same-sex couple with the questions asked on this year’s Census. Our Director, Jodie Brenton and the Life Resolutions team are proud to support the stand taken by Mary Magalotti and those in the LGBTQ+ community. Here at Life Resolutions are actively stand against discrimation.
Mary stated that “despite having two mothers on their birth certificates it forces you to say where the father is from”. Mary and many others in the LGBTQ+ community feel that this is not only disrespectful to the couple but the children as well.
In the interview with The Age Mary said she “felt distressed for my children who weren’t represented”. The Census included questions that allowed the recognition of same-sex couples but failed to include measures like addressing the children in these families.
Here at Life Resolution, we believe in active equality for all. Active equality is taking measures and steps to combat inequality and discrimination. Alongside Mary, we take a stand against discrimination and inequality.
Lead by Mary Magalotti, our team of psychologists are experienced in working with those within the LGBTQ+ community and understand the challenges that they may face.
The Life Resolutions team believe that everyone should have access to support and feel included and respected. We provide compassionate, inclusive and understanding support to everyone in the community, no matter their background, identity or their sexuality.
